aliens on the moon - the laika vega years

IM BACK EVERYONE : )

after 6 months out from the book writing world, i am pleased to announce the best idea i think i have ever had.

I'm going to get straight to the point. This book (in my eyes) has the potential to be as big as the likes of harry potter, star wars, x men. I mention those three titles as this book is a fun, fast paced mix of all of them combined. The first book in the trilogy of The Laika Vega years is -

Aliens on the Moon

With the regained interest of space exploration thanks to our very own astronaut Tim Peake and the future planned moon missions. Now is the perfect time to get involved and take your imagination to new heights. The book has longevity and huge potential. I have written the book in mind for it to be adapted into a movie.

The book is aimed at all ages, but I would say the target market would be teenagers, partly for the fun illustrations, partly for the interesting facts and open mind exploration.

The Laika Vega years is more than a book, it is a franchise with huge selling potential with action figures, film rights and merchandising opportunities  to name a few.

These “stand out” books don't come around that often so I urge you to take a chance on one man, a self published man who has took his interest in adventure, sci fi and topical issues and put together a potentially massive idea with The Laika Vega years.

the book is available now, courtesy of

from amazon ( ebook )

and waterstones ( paperback )

keep focused

hi everyone

its been a week. no news yet from the books I sent off to the media. im not too worried as I know they must receive a large amount of mail. its not like there just sitting there waiting for my book to fall on their lap......... I just want to share a quick story with you.
the girlfriend and I went to Barcelona back in may. it was a great little break, all up until the flight home. some inconsiderate human sitting in front of us was sick all over herself. this was bad enough. it wasint until my partner felt a liquid sqweltching between her toes. the sick had run down the side of the seat and was dripping onto my partners sandels.

she became distraught with the sight and feel of another humans Ebola beans all in between her toes. she had to throw her shows and we got moved seats to the back of the plane. we got home and sent a strongly worded email to the airline for not providing sick bags in the back of each seat. doing so would of prevented the trauma of a fat disgusting human vomiting all over the plane. we heard nothing back from the airline. nothing until yesterday when we got an email reply saying that they are looking into the compensation claim we had put forward for a new pair of Jimmy choo shoes ( they were actually 4 pound from primark) and trauma.

the moral of the story is never give up hope. its been a week since I sent the books out but I am confident I will hear something back soon. ill post it on this blog when I receive news.

I also have an updated "second edition" of the book currently being printed. it is already available for download from Amazon. it has two new chapters so look forward to that people.

never give up, focus on the goal, love life, live long

blog traffic

just thought id share this because I know it will make certain humans laugh. below is a picture of the traffic my blog has achieved since its infancy. seem to be a lot of Irish followers/page views? shout out to the lone soldier in Germany, the tag team duos from Greece and Malaysia, the dirty dozen Americans and not forgetting the drunken Irish.

one more thing, if your not my friend on Facebook you wont be able to see the ruxton book company page. its a secret page so if this link does not allow you to join

then try this one and i will add you personally

sending the book to newspapers and celebrities

*update*

so I sent the books off to the newspapers today. my ultimate goal is for one of them to do a "don't buy this shit book" review, then all my "hard" work will be worthwhile. I have been waiting for the book to be available from both Amazon and waterstones ( which it now is) before I sent them off.I was waiting for Google play but those bastards are not accepting new publishers at this moment and have not been for the last 5 months. knobs.
any-who, I stirred up quite a fuss with queue that formed behind me a the post office today. 14 letters I sent in total. this combined with the old bag behind the counter fannying, basically stealing life from me.stealing my very life force. here is a receipt confirming the transaction and a list of all the people I sent the book too.

I will update on my blog when/if I get any correspondence from the media so stay tuned. if all fails and nothing succumbs of any of this I will not give up, I already have my next book in mind, plus I may dabble in releasing a one hit wonder hit single. that'll be enough to get some fannying around cash to potter away with.

get your book into waterstones

hello people

after a lot of emails back and forth to waterstones regarding an issue with their website that did not show new book jacket covers. I am pleased to say that the book is now a fully fledged "for sale" product.

the way the world is by anon

if you want to get a book into waterstones be aware that they do not buy direct from yourself (the publisher). you need to set up a supply chain through one of their whole sellers. most popular are bertrams and gardners books.
the system works as follows.

  • you write a book
  • you acquire an ISBN (bar code) from Nielsen book data. note that they do note sell individual ISBN so for the minimum 10 ISBN the price is £144
  • then fill out a waterstones/gardners trading application form
  • then sit back and wait, and by wait I mean nothing happens fast unless you push it, I sent countless emails to Nielsen, waterstones, gardners to try and kick their arses into gear and it seamed to work. to be honest the customer service by all the before mentioned companies were excellent. quick reply s and very informative.

here is a more detailed link on how to get a book into waterstones

then your book will be listed for sale on their website. if you want to get it into the stores like I did. you have to send your book to waterstones headquarters(London) for consideration. then your fate lies in some pencil pushers hands who have no grasp on what the public actually want to read.so.....good luck.

even if you don't get your book into the stores, don't worry. bookshops are a dying industry. the internet however, is here to stay. so if its on their website (and if you follow the steps above,it will be) then your safe.

now

if someone buys your book on-line, or goes in the shop and requests one. waterstones inform bertrams/gardners.

bertrams/gardners contact you via email saying an order has been placed for your book. you may also get an email confirmation of an order from Nielsen book data

you send the book to the wholesaler (bertrams/gardners) with an attached invoice. don't worry if you don't know how to do an invoice, I didint either. just download the app invoice simple from the play store and follow the step by step guide.

they receive the book and send it on to waterstones. however they do take there cut. usually 50-55% so for my £5 book I get around £2.35

and that's the way it works. hope it helps you out if you ever consider writing your own piece of shit book

kind regards

The way the world is by anon update

hi people,

just a quick update on the book journey.

got the book in waterstones now. to be honest with you, books are on their way out (for most people). eBooks are the way forward. however if your like me, which if your interested in this blog i assume you are. you like to be able to actually feel the paper, be able to physically feel and display the book.

eBooks are good in a way because 1: its free to upload and from then on its profits, basically money for doing nothing.(apart from actually having to write a dam book) and 2: you can add chapters and make any amendments whenever you want.

books are far more expensive to produce and distribute. especially if you are an independent publisher like myself. plus your profit margins are squeezed by the knobber book companies and wholesalers who all "take" their portion. the upside is a physical end product that you can dish out over motorway bridges and take to your grave with you.
stay tuned for more updates on one mans half arsed struggle to get a piece of shit book to the top (preferable a new York times best seller) hey, gotta set your goals high otherwise what's the point of all this........... fannying
